PRESIDENT’S REPORT

I am writing this article a few days prior to our second Cooperative Trapper Education Workshop at Greensboro, AL on Jan. 2 to 4, 2009. The first workshop was held Dec. 5 to 7, 2008, at the Swan Creek WMA. I want to thank everyone who volunteered to help make the workshop a success.

The 2009 Spring ATPCA meeting will be held on Saturday, March, 28, 2009, at Steve Phillips house in Cottondale, Ala. Come join us after 9 a.m. to talk trapping. We will be having lunch at noon followed by the business meeting at 1 p.m. The ATPCA will be supplying the entrée and beverages. Please bring a dish to pass. This is the meeting where we make plans for the fall rendezvous and deciding on the donations we will be making in 2009. NAFA will be picking up fur at the meeting. Current ATPCA members will be receiving a flyer the first week of March on the meeting. If you are not a current member, please contact me for details on the meeting.

I would like to send out a plea for new volunteers to help organize and run the fall rendezvous. The STP Club (same 10 people) is getting older and could sure use the help. Please volunteer.
My plans are to update the Animal Damage Control List that is distributed via the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources in June 2009. This is a service provided to current members of the ATPCA.

Reminder: Alabama Regulation 220-2-.32 requires that each trapper report their harvest by number and species to the DCNR within 45 days after the end of the season. You can obtain a copy of the form at www.outdooralabama.com.

See you at the Spring Meeting.

— Charlie Rath
