PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Hello, Trappers. Hopefully this article reaches you in good health and deep in fur. The weather this season has sure been “trapper friendly” for most of us in the state. I would wager that we will have another year of high averages.
As a reminder the ATA 2013 Fur sale is scheduled for February 2nd, 2013. Please give Mike Huffer a call at (480) 970-5904 and give him your fur count. This is very important if we are to get a group of competitive buyers at the sale. As always Mike can use all the volunteer help that he can get.
I have gotten several phone calls this season about fur put-up and prep. I would highly recommend Mercer Lawing’s Top Dollar Cats DVD. It will pay for itself with the first cat you put up. Quality wood stretchers are only way to go when putting up top-lot cats. If you’re still using wire stretchers, you’re losing money. Give Bill Baber in Gilbert, AZ a call at (480) 510-8556 for a very reasonable priced quality wood stretcher. Dry washing your furs in Borax, blowing them out with a shop vac or air compressor, and combing them out real good before the sale is time well spent. It will sure help your average.
Please contact me or a county director if you have any suggestions for the coming summer convention. Like the fur sale any volunteer help we can get is greatly appreciated.
Release the females and smaller males or you will be checking empty traps next year… Set heavy and wear’em out! — Scott Trowbridge
Great auction last weekend gentlemen. I hope you are ready for next year. It amazes me how far you have come in four years. Keep up the good work.
