PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Hello Trappers,

Our trapping neighbors in California are in dire need of our support. California, along with several other Western states, is under legal attack by the anti’s again. Anti-trapping legislation is in the works to ban bobcat trapping, if not trapping outright, in the state.

As an association, we will be sending an emergency donation to the CTA to help them in this fight. We also have funds set aside to send to Oregon and Montana if needed. If we do not support our neighbors when they are in need, we will have no one to support us when we are all that is left. We will stand together … or we will hang separately.

Coming off of a very successful fur sale, the ATA is in good financial standing. We have worked very hard and saved over the years for just such legal battles. Otis Latham and the Colorado Trappers Association have offered to match other associations’ donations, and I think this is a great challenge. It is my understanding that the NTA and FHA are also helping with the fight.

Donations may be sent to Reid Aiton, PO Box 1339, Blue Lake, CA 95525 or on the CTA directly. Any donations or support you can send would be greatly appreciated!

To our fellow trappers in California: Keep fighting the good fight. We have your back!

Live Strong, Live Free! — Scott Trowbridge
