VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Howdy, folks, Indian summer is finally gone and we got our first patch of chill just as beaver season opens. Hope everyone had a great summer and is looking forward to a productive fall.
Over the last couple of years there has been a proliferation of reality TV series based, for better or worse, on wildlife capture “professionals,” I cringe and cannot watch most of this dreck, as they are exceedingly unprofessional in the performance of their tasks in my vocation. The best thing I get out of this is that Billy The Exterminator makes me look good by comparison. Oh, well, I am happy with praise, no matter what the source.
We have been solicited (dare I say propositioned?) several times over the past couple of years by production companies wishing to film our activities. The CTA has again been contacted so I am dutifully passing along this information. Specifically, they would like to film large (?) animal capture pros in our state and thought the CTA would be a good source for access to some. Admittedly, my grand and unlimited ego toyed with the thought, but no, I don’t think so. But if any of you folks want to be rock stars on the small box and are not troubled by the potential negative response associated with such a project, are CTA members in good standing and promise to only make us look good (ha, ha), let me know.
This looks to be an outstanding year. Unofficial roadkill tally is great even this early. Fox, badger, mink, raccoon, all looking good, squished all over. Have fun and be safe out there!

— James C. Schmerker Jr.

  1. What are you doing as CTA to prevent SB 1480 and other bills like it to be put into law?
CTA needs to get involved in all new upcoming bills.
