PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Hello Trappers,

Another month has came and gone and trapping season is in full swing with a lot or fur out there, some easy to get and some not so easy. I just hope the fur prices are up from the end of last season. Some places seem to getting better prices than others, high for some fur and low for others, some states one way or the other what was high there is low here. You get my drift. I guess we the trappers are not to understand. We are just to go out there and trap. Don’t think about the cost of gas or food. Here in Calif., the lead ban is to go into effect in 2019. Talking to a lot of people, the talk is that it cannot happen as the bullets that will have to be used are all copper and the Feds say that is armor piercing. The Feds say that is a no no. So somebody has to come up with another metal to use in place of lead that will not be armor piercing. Good luck on that. Maybe wood or ??? I got no idea. I have been seeing a lot of roadkills all summer and big and small coons going to work. That is 20 min drive for me. There would be 5 or 6 a day everywhere along the road. No reason for them in some places. Not a place that would be a crossing. Someone got a good answer? Christmas just down the way and I hope all the trappers everywhere have a real nice Christmas with the people they have close to them in their arms and in their heart. That is it for now, also a happy new year.

Thanks. — John Clark
