VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT
The 2013 Trappers Rendezvous will be held over Labor Day Weekend (August 31st to September 1st, 2013) on a ranch in Fremont County off the Gold Belt Tour Road between Canon City and Cripple Creek, CO.
Campers and vendors may set up on Friday, August 30th. You need to bring your own firewood and water but keep in mind that county or statewide fire restrictions or bans might be in place. Portable toilets and food service will be available.
Events actually begin on Saturday with numerous demonstrations taking place throughout the day, plus a trappers’ obstacle course competition (more information will be available later.) Saturday evening events include a dinner and an auction with possible entertainment to follow. On Sunday there will be a church service, board and membership meetings, shooting competitions and award ceremonies. The raffle drawing will be held at 6 p.m. Vendors will be available all weekend. The property must be vacated no later than Monday at noon.
This is set to be a fabulous event for trappers, fur harvesters and sportsmen alike! Camping is available on site, and numerous accommodations are located in Cripple Creek, Canon City and by the Royal Gorge Bridge area. Lodging options are listed below if one chooses to stay off site. It is recommended you make your reservations some time in advance since it will be the Labor Day weekend.
Plan to attend the Rendezvous and extend the weekend into a small vacation! Canon City has the Royal Gorge Bridge, the Royal Gorge Route Railway, fantastic rafting and fishing and many zip lines. Cripple Creek, the famous gold mining camp, has casinos, museums, a gold mine tour, shops and restaurants for your enjoyment. The Cripple Creek and Victor area is quite rich in history.
If you have suggestions or questions or would like to donate or sponsor part of an event or sign up as a vendor, please contact Dan Gates at 719-269-7972 or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This website will be updated as plans solidify. Flyers will also be sent out and posted in the Trapper and on this website.
