SECRETARY/TREASURER’S REPORT

The meeting was called to order at 5:00pm, Feb 17, 2013 by Pres Bill Howe. Lance Smith won the 50/50, Greg Schmidt won the Trap donated by Howe’s Trapping Supply, Les Wedge won the hat and Hugh McDonald won the shirt from John Slocum. Hugh gave the shirt to Dale B for his son.

There will be a fur auction at the Pompey Club on March 30th. Remember the Maple Festival is April 13 and 14. More to follow at the March meeting.

Mr. Howe has purchased the CVA Black Powder rifle for our raffle. We will start selling at the Festival. Tickets are available. Fur inventory checked out by Bill. We have 0 rats for sale. Cost seems to be prohibitive.

Treasurer’s report was accepted as given. Bills will be paid.

Les Wedge reported on the scholarship. Letters sent to schools. Les and Butch reported on Trapper Course held at McGraw. They had 33 students in attendance. Discussion on how different Instructors handle courses. Interesting. No North American Fur auction results available yet.

Butch discussed the Fisher program now ongoing by the DEC Hugh McDonald discussed the proposed idea to put the Wolverine on the endangered species list. John Hickey discussed trapping Skunks and Muskrat. Frank Wiley caught a male and female Fisher and released them. He reported the catch to the DEC as requested.

John Slocum discussed the new gun laws. He noted a call from a Minnesota trapper that was looking to trap Muskrat in our area. Plenty of land {state) available.

Russ Bossard did a demo on Mink trapping. Top edge and bottom edge sets for Mink. Russ had a bag full of assorted traps that all work for him. Nice job Russ.

Shirley Howe has the Crock Pot going and the natives are restless. Next demo by Hugh and Hugh will also bring the food in March.

Respectfully submitted. — Art Manz
