President Howe called the meeting to order at 5:10pm, May 20, 2012. The 50/50 was won by Les Wedge and the Lures donated by John Hahn were won by Al Martak.

President’s list: Bill discussed the emergency meeting held by the Solon Sportsmen’s Club. Extensive discussion followed. Solon, as with all clubs I know, is having a difficult financial problem and lack of cooperation from most members when it comes to helping with the work involved keeping a Club running. We will try to assist anyway we can, so watch this spot for more info. If you can help out somehow, feel free to let the Directors know and jump in.

Treasurer’s report was accepted as given. Motion by Art, 2nd by John that the Club pay for Les Wedge trip to the State meeting in Watertown as our County Rep. motion carried.

Al Martak will not be able to attend the Trappers College this year, it seems mother nature has paid him a call with lots of storm damage to his home. He has plenty of work to do at home.

Les Wedge reported on the NYSTA meeting, report was included with newsletter. The Scholarship Committee has come up with a winner for our 2012 Scholarship. We had 7 applicants and the winner is Travis Pettit from Tully/BOCES. He will be attending SUNY Cobleskill in hopes of being a professional Forester.

Hugh McDonald noted that there will be a trapping show on TV along the lines of the hunting and fishing shows. Let’s hope we get portrayed in a decent light.

John Slocum discussed the need to repair the Trapper’s shack in Marathon. Schedule will be made and the job will be done this summer.

Hugh will bring the food for June.

Demo this month is outside where Al Martak will demonstrate his trap set.

Dan McDonald has the crock pot going right now so let’s get at it.

Meeting adjourned at 6:00pm.

Respectfully submitted. — Art Manz, Sec

Meeting was called to order by President Howe at 5:00pm, June 17, 2012. The 50/50 was won by Mark Slocum and the lure donated by J Hahn was won by our resident fisherman Les Wedge.

There were no corrections to the minutes, minutes were accepted as written.

Gun raffle tickets are available from Mr. Howe.

Shirley Howe will bring the food for July. No food this meeting.

Bill Howe will do a demo next month.

Our Director, Ray Nolan was given the floor and made a great presentation on many subjects. All questions were addressed. The Muskrat study is going well.

Discussion on the NY Trappers Fur Rondy and the NYSTA Convention and Sportsmen Show. Ray and Les will attend the B of D meeting on July 21. He discussed the items he will bring up to the board. He asked for suggestions and or approval of these items. No Fisher season in the near future. DEC is tweaking the Bobcat Management Plan. Lot of information from Ray and we appreciate it.

Les Wedge discussed the repair needed on the Trappers Cabin at the Maple Festival grounds. John Slocum will get rolled roofing for the job and Les will get slab wood. Greg has nails and anyone with a hammer and/or ladder is welcome. Check with John for date and time.

Les noted that he was present when the Mayfly hatch occurred on Skaneateles

Lake. It is quite a sight, about five miles long.

John Slocum finished the discussion on the cabin roof and it will get done this year.

Bill discussed the trials and tribulations of the Solon Club, we will watch how they solve or don’t solve their problem. We will keep track of what they do to help themselves before we throw more money in the arena.
