President Howe called the meeting to order at 5:10pm, May 20, 2012. The 50/50 was won by Les Wedge and the Lures donated by John Hahn were won by Al Martak.
President’s list: Bill discussed the emergency meeting held by the Solon Sportsmen’s Club. Extensive discussion followed. Solon, as with all clubs I know, is having a difficult financial problem and lack of cooperation from most members when it comes to helping with the work involved keeping a Club running. We will try to assist anyway we can, so watch this spot for more info. If you can help out somehow, feel free to let the Directors know and jump in.
Treasurer’s report was accepted as given. Motion by Art, 2nd by John that the Club pay for Les Wedge trip to the State meeting in Watertown as our County Rep. motion carried.
Al Martak will not be able to attend the Trappers College this year, it seems mother nature has paid him a call with lots of storm damage to his home. He has plenty of work to do at home.
Les Wedge reported on the NYSTA meeting, report was included with newsletter. The Scholarship Committee has come up with a winner for our 2012 Scholarship. We had 7 applicants and the winner is Travis Pettit from Tully/BOCES. He will be attending SUNY Cobleskill in hopes of being a professional Forester.
Hugh McDonald noted that there will be a trapping show on TV along the lines of the hunting and fishing shows. Let’s hope we get portrayed in a decent light.
John Slocum discussed the need to repair the Trapper’s shack in Marathon. Schedule will be made and the job will be done this summer.
Hugh will bring the food for June.
Demo this month is outside where Al Martak will demonstrate his trap set.
Dan McDonald has the crock pot going right now so let’s get at it.
Meeting adjourned at 6:00pm.
Respectfully submitted. — Art Manz, Sec

Discussion on the NY Trappers Fur Rondy and the NYSTA Convention and Sportsmen Show. Ray and Les will attend the B of D meeting on July 21. He discussed the items he will bring up to the board. He asked for suggestions and or approval of these items. No Fisher season in the near future. DEC is tweaking the Bobcat Management Plan. Lot of information from Ray and we appreciate it.
