PRESIDENT’S REPORT

The meeting was called to order at 5:00pm Nov 18, 2012. The 50/50 was won by Shirley Howe and the trap was won by Les Wedge. Bill Howe has donated a dozen traps to be given away as door prizes at our meetings. Thanks Bill.

Short discussion on the possibility of some kind of shooting event at our Rendezvous. We are looking to increase attendance and participation. Any ideas will be considered.

Bill noted Coyote Hunt contest being held by the IFH. $1000 1st prize.

Looking to be more involved in the Association? Elections are in Dec. Step up.

Hugh McDonald will do the Demo in Dec. He will also bring the food, wow!

Treasurer’s report accepted with one correction.

Round table: Les Wedge has list of gas stations selling non-ethanol gas. He noted that he got a decent price for his muskrats. Les and Ray Nolan discussed proposed NYSTA by law change. It is certainly noted and appreciated that Les and Ray are keeping us informed of actions and business going on at NYSTA’s meetings, thanks guys. Ray asked that the Association send NYSTA a resolution in favor of making our website user friendly and updated regularly with info we would like to hear and see. The cable restraint legislation is on the front burner this year. I would surmise that progress will depend on the result of the elections and who gets control of the Senate. DEC still wants your sightings of Bobcat, Otter and Fisher.

Mark Laue noted the fact that Raccoon seem to be scarce.

Al Martak noted that there will be a Trapper Training Course on Sat Jan 12, 2013 at the Newfield R&G Club. Sign up at the Newfield Town Hall. Discussion on the number of No-shows signing up. Solution??

Butch Jenks read list of animals he caught on his trip to the North Country.

Russ Bossard reported on his Coyote double. Nice. Club congratulated his wife Cindy on her first Buck take.

Hugh McDonald said he tried to report a road kill Fisher and got the impression that the DEC wasn’t interested.

Club thanked Les Wedge on the Newsletter section on a fur bearer of the month. Art noted that he just keeps on learning thanks to stuff like that and the membership’s demos at our meetings. Thanks guys. If you are missing the meetings you are also missing some good stuff.

Mark Laue did a demo on his home made mink/weasel box trap. Thanks Mark.

Russ has his Elk Stew ready and hot. No pushing please. Great Russ. thanks.

Meeting adjourned at 6:15PM.

Respectfully submitted. — Art Manz
