PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Hey I hope everyone had a great summer! If you missed the convention you missed a good one.

I personally would like to thank all that voted for me I will not let you down we have all ready made some short term and long term goals to move us forward and to gain and retain memberships. We have several things in the works stay tuned for details.

I want to thank Travis LeMay and Robert Browning for taking the time and the challenges for putting on another successful convention.

We had before the membership that attended the convention a pros and cons discussion on snares with several folks presenting both sides of this debate.

In the end it was put to vote with the majority against this. Thanks for all involved on both sides of this debate.

We have scheduled the next 2 years of conventions 2015 will be 19-20 September in Augusta at the Columbia cty fair grounds.

2016 will be in Statesboro place and date TBA soon.

Thomas farms will be hosting the annual state competition 23-25 January 2015 at Thomas farms in Andersonville Ga. Only stipulation must have a Ga. Trapping license and a GTA member in good standings.

The spring fling will be at the Zerwigs again this year date TBA

Thanks Randy and Holly!!

Also we will have NAFA there for your fur pickup make plans to attend and bring your fur!!

CORRESPONDENCE SECRETARY’S REPORT

On October 4th the annual GTA convention was held in Barnesville. Travis Lemay was the host and by all accounts it was a successful convention. Thanks Travis for a job well done!

The most anticipated event at the convention was the election of officers for the next two years. The officers are; President Dan Eaton, Vice-president Lewis Todd, Executive Director Brian Igou, Secretary/Treasurer Cheryl Eaton, Correspondence Secretary Steve Rainey, NTA Director Rusty Johnson, General Organizer Josh Hall, Legislative Director Lee Riley, and Youth Director John “Snake” Whaley. Next month I will provide contact information for each of these officers that represent you, the members of the GTA. At this point we would like to extend a heartfelt “THANK YOU” to the dedicated members of the Georgia Trappers Association for placing your confidence in us. We pledged back in the summer to take back the GTA. That has been accomplished, the ship has been righted, and is now firmly on course. A number of both, short range and long range goals have been set and the result will be a stronger and better organization to represent the trappers of Georgia.

It’s October 30 as I write this and fall is definitely in the air! Temperatures are supposed to be near freezing this week end – perfect deer hunting weather and trapping season will be open by the time you read this. Enjoy it, this is what we live for! — Steve Rainey
