CORRESPONDENCE SECRETARY’S REPORT

Hey Georgia Trappers! Sorry for neglecting to get a report in the last couple of months – but hey what can you say but it’s hot and D-R-Y? Well here we go again, the local TV station reported this morning that we’d just had the second driest July on record! I know, I know – I whined about how dry it was last year but it’s the same thing all over again.

One thing we can look forward to is the end of summer and the beginning of the fall hunting and trapping seasons and hopefully some winter rains to help with the deficit – the Albany Herald has it around 18” for the year so far! What’s a poor ‘ol otter or beaver to do? What’s a poor ‘ol otter and beaver trapper to do?

The farmers are busy combining corn and the cotton bowls are starting to open so the seasons are starting to change.

The big news is it’s almost CONVENTION TIME! The GTA Convention will be held in Cordele this year at the Lions Club Fair Grounds on the first week-end in October (October 6 – 7).

Here are the phone numbers for some local motels: Ramada Inn 1-800-992-2694, Holiday Inn Express (229) 273-8773, Fairfield Inn 800-276-7415, Hampton Inn (229) 273-0737, Days Inn (229) 273-7366.

Make plans to attend and maybe pick up some tips and supplies to help you load up on those high priced (we HOPE) otters and cats! — Steve Rainey
