Matrise shot the 7-foot, 6-inch black bear last weekend in Manitoba, Canada. The record-class bear has a 20-1/2-inch skull and weighs 567 pounds.
“I shot him one time threw both lungs with a bow and arrow at 15 yards away,” Matrise said in a Victory Records press release. “He ran about 60 yards and dropped dead. It was an amazing feeling shooting such a large beast.”
Matrise, who has been hunting for 20 years, has hunted bears for the last eight years. He said he will be getting a full-body mount of his Boone-and-Crockett-class bear, which he called a “once-in-a-lifetime” trophy.
Jungle Rot, of Kenosha, Wis., formed in 1994. The band has released seven studio albums, including their most recent album “Kill on Command,” which came out in 2011 on Victory Records.
