NTA DIRECTOR’S REPORT

The 50th Anniversary NTA convention in Lima was very well attended. The Director meetings were productive and each day they ended early due to the efficiency of the executive council and the Bedford office staff. The office is running well and the projected budget for 2010 looks good.

All of the attacks on trapping are being countered by cooperative efforts of the NTA, FTA, USSA, and other groups. Montana has asked for help from the other organizations to fight a ballot initiative there that would stop trapping on all public lands. I will move to send them some funds at our next BOD meeting.

I sit on the Bylaws committee and nothing was brought up to be changed at this time.

The FTA is purchasing two hours of TV time on The Outdoor Channel in two-minute infomercials to promote trapping and inform sportsminded people about the importance of trapping in comsumptive use.
Amy Crum has put together an outstanding Fall Newsletter and your election ballot is enclosed. If you do not get your newsletter by the middle of August, please contact Travis Allen to have him check on your membership.

To help fund our ISTA Trapper Education program for next year, we will hold a Furbearers Unlimited banquet in Lafayette on Feb. 27, 2010, at the Outpost. Look for more information in coming reports. If you would like to donate to the raffle prizes, buy tickets, or sponsor a gun, or help me out in any way, please let me know as I will be the chairman.

Unfortunately for the NTA, Todd Roggenkamp has resigned as General Organizer due to work and family commitments. He will serve until Oct. 1 and the BOD will be interviewing replacement applicants soon so they can relpace him at that time.

Cindy Seff from Arizona was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Look for the other award winners on the NTA Web site.

— Stu Grell
