PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Greetings to all. This will be extremely late, in a very sad note, found out that Mike & Judy Sells’ daughter-in-law Jennifer passed away on Aug 4th. Jennifer, who married their son John, worked for the Iowa DNR from 1991 to 2005 in many different positions before having to retire from the DNR. Her passing at such an early age will be very tough on the children and family. Please keep John and his family, Mike, Judy and the rest of the family in your thoughts during this tough time.

Not much going on at this time with the ITA besides getting ready for convention. Nothing to report, but next months report will have plenty. By the time you read this, this falls convention will be history. I will get all the info from the convention in the next months report. Started off the 4th of August heading to Columbia for the NTA. Talked to a lot of people, everywhere I went I would run into someone else. It is one of those things where you go no where fast. Always have a good time seeing everyone again.

Kind of got snookered, along with some other teams, into participating in a 2 man canoe race (on dry land) with No-shirt Dean (if you know Dean, you know who I mean) by Cody Hutton after some insight from Missouri’s Ron Pantry. The race consisted of lifejackets, sand bags on 330’s, a canoe, paddles, a hill, another sand bagged 330 in a tank of water, then downhill to the finish line. If you have never tired it you are missing out on some fun, minus the lack of oxygen available to your body for about 10 minutes. We are planning a spin-off of this at the ITA convention this fall, but will be a 3-man team event. Get your teams organized.

Aug. 28th I spent the day at East Central IA Chapter 16 Fur Takers rendezvous in Central City, just NE of Cedar Rapids. I have been attending the past 6 or so years and every year this event gets bigger than in the past. Getting to know people over there by now, so it is always nice to get to see them. They have dealers, demos, potluck and auction during the day and is usually held the last Sunday in August.

Can’t think of anything else at this time, will close for now. Hope to see everyone at Winterset. Til next time.

— Craig Sweet
