VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Now that furharvesting season is underway, use extreme caution, place your traps in an ethical and responsible manner. Make sure you have permission on all private land and read your regulations on public ground. Follow all regulations. We all need to be extremely careful so there will not be any non-target catches like last season. Report any violators that you come upon.

Remember your state association auction dates. They are Jan. 16, 2010, and Feb. 20, 2010, at Steryl Hall in Abilene. The doors will open at 7 a.m. for setup and the auctions will start at 9 a.m. Volunteers are always needed throughout the day. Please bundle your furs as much as possible and remember that you can only set five single bobcats. You can reserve your lot numbers 30 days prior to the first auction by calling Roger or Donna at 785-346-2076 and preferably from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., as we do not carry our books with us to work.

Good luck on your furhearvesting.

Happy Holidays.

— Roger Macy

DISTRICT 16 REPORT

The 4th quarter meeting of District 16 was held at the John Borror residence. 35 members and guest enjoyed the Fried Fish and covered dish meal.

The meeting was called to order and a wide discussion was held about the past rendezvous. It was deemed a success by all, with a large attendance, 22 vendors and a very successful auction. All thought the coloring contest for the Yates Center school kids was a nice addition. District 16 wants to thank all who attended and especially all who helped make it a success.

President W.R. Brecheisen talked on some of the goings on in the state and on the past info booths.
In other business, it was voted to donate $200 to the FTA for their Furbearer Management Moments, which is scheduled to air in January on the Outdoor Channel.

A report was given on the Booth at the Wilson County Old Iron Club the last weekend of September. Over 800 school age kids visited the event and all who visited our booth left with a coloring book. It was also voted on to joint the club as a “non active member” at a cost of $50.

A thank you letter from the NTA for our donation from the Fish Fry at the Convention was read.
A thank you card was also read from the Loren Collins Family thanking the KFH for the money collected at the convention to help with travel expenses from Loren’s wife Peggy’s accident. Loren is a charter member of the KFH. Peggy is on her way to recovery, but has a long way to go.

A financial report was also given.

The next meeting will be Feb. 7 at 5 p.m., it will be a wild game feed, all members have until then to come up with their favorite Road Kill recipe.

Door prizes were given away and the meeting was adjourned.
