SECRETARY/TREASURER’S REPORT

At our Board of Directors meeting, we decided to have our 2010 convention at Camp Clearwater on April 10. This camp is about 20 minutes south of Alexandria. We also decided to increase membership dues ($20 per year for a individual membership with a subscription to Trapper & Predator Caller and $25 per year for a family membership with a subscription to Trapper & Predator Caller). We allotted $200 for the printing of raffle tickets. The 2010 raffle will consist of one winner of a $300 gift certificate. We allotted $750 to our Education Fund. Curtis Cruse is in charge of this fund. We allotted $350 for a Web site. Tony Howard will set up this site. We allotted $225 for a newsletter. Clint Perkins will be sending out this letter. We allotted $100 for convention advertising.

Curtis Cruse will take care of this advertising. We discussed running an ad in the LDWF’s hunting regulation booklet in the future. Steven Huges and Tony Howard are going to check into this more. I turned in my resignation notice (Sept. 30, 2010). Sam Smith reported on NTA and FTA business.

We made a resolution to oppose hunters shooting bobcats. We made Les Wesson a Honorary Member. Curtis Cruse reported on setting up a trapping workshop on Sept. 11, 12 and 13. We also had donated $100 to the NTA, FTA and FBU back in April. I would also like to give Ronnie Guy and Clint Perkins a special thanks for cooking us alligator sauce piquant and fried alligator. It was delicious.

National Hunt & Fish day is Sept. the 19th this year. There are five locations (Baton Rouge, Woodworth, Minden, Monroe and Tensas) that we can set up booths at. But we need volunteers to help out at these booths. This event is a very good opportunity for us to teach kids and adults about trapping and alligator hunting in Louisiana. If you would like to help at one of these booths, please call me.

Our new member drive is still going on until Sept. 15th. Ronnie Guy is in the lead with 10 new members signed up. Tony Howard is second with three new members signed up. The winner will receive $50 worth of trapping equipment. If you need any new member forms, let me know and I will get them to you.

— Paul Rhodes
