DISTRICT 8 REPORT
Another enjoyable meeting with eight present. One other had last minute duties and could not make it.
Bob and Verna Calloway, our hosts, were presented with a gift certificate to one of their favorite diners from District 8 for services rendered. Not near enough for all the fellowship and goodies they constantly provide.
Roger read some fur tips put out by NAFA along with an explanation of how they determine when furs are no sale. Very interesting. The new NAFA fur pick up point was gone over.
A full list of NTA convention sites and dates for the coming year, plus one for the next year was discussed. Good information to know. The replacement NTA vice president was announced along with a short discussion of their doings.
A FFG article about fox trapping in our neighboring state was brought up and discussed. Constant hard work and determination are the biggest factors in piling up big numbers of any catch. Very few are up to it.
Our Dist 8 pelt donation was this month and Donald, Jamie and Roger each donated a red fox pelt and David donated $20 to the cause. Jamie will sell them to Wm Byler, our local fur buyer. It appears we will survive for another year. Donations are still welcomed.
The members each discussed how their trapping had gone since last month. Donald and Jamie had sold some fur and we discussed the prices received. Deer hunting in general slowed everyone down, but that is mostly over now. Go to it trappers. David is recovering from shoulder surgery and Dist 8 wishes him well, plus we were glad he was up to making the meeting.
A couple our regular members from last year have not showed up this year. We miss you. We would like to have your guidance. Come join us.
Dist 8 meets the fourth Tuesday during trapping season at 7:00 PM. We meet at the home of Bob Calloway at 14313 Cherry Lane, near Tuckahoe State Park, between Centreville, Md and Ridgely, Md. Call Bob at 410-634-2501 for further directions. — Roger Ringgold, 410-634-2552, firstname.lastname@example.org
