DISTRICT 6 REPORT

By the time you read this, many of us will be trapping. Cool! Hope ya’ll have a very successful season.

We had a real productive meeting at Chillicothe, and in the end we have several new Directors for individual counties. I’m going to give these folks the winter “off” to trap, deer hunt, etc but next spring they will be in charge of helping me arrange activities throughout District 6. They are going to be a big help and I want to say “thanks” to them again for stepping up.

Speaking of stepping up- Jim Homan has been instrumental in helping us get two clinics going in cooperation with Orschelins Farm & Home. This could be a partnership with huge ramifications if taken state-wide. These clinics will be held December 3rd at California, and on December 10th at Eldon and will be aimed at fur handling, with a little bit of trapping thrown in for good measure. Each clinic will be short and to the point because of trapping season, deer hunting and other things folks have to do prepatory to winters’ arrival, and will run from 1-3 pm each day. We could sure use some help if you can be in the area! Again, thanks to Jim for his hard work and dedication.

This will make a total of SEVEN clinics held by District 6 this year. That’s got to be some sort of record. But it’s what we do, and we’ll continue as long as the help and resources are there to get the job done right.

Paul Webb and his family continue to struggle with their grandson’ issues. Josh was almost killed in an accident over a month ago and at the time of this writing is still in a coma, although showing signs of improvement. Keep the Webbs in your prayers!

For next year, our annual Clinic at Laurie (Lake of the Ozarks) will be sometime around the end of the regular furbearer season. We’ll set a date soon and get it in the Mountainmen.

Finally, our old pal Bob Whitworth won BOTH of our raffles at the Fall Rondy. Both the Hilltop Cage Shop trap and the Blue English Fleshing System went home with the old man. Pretty cool. Thanks to all that donated.

Until next time, everyone be careful, and have a great season! — Dale, 573-789-5690, ozarktrapper@yahoo.com
