VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT

I received some bad news today, Mel Block passed away, for those of you who knew him. He will be missed. He was one of the guys who had a lot to do with the early beginnings of the association. He was definitely a mentor to me.

Lynn and I were able to attend the District 3 meeting at Meremac Park. They are putting together a two-day clinic for young trappers as well as more advanced trappers in October. Contact Jim Love or Jim Weberry for more details.

Before the District 3 meeting, we went to Lima, Ohio for the 50th NTA Convention. We really enjoyed ourselves just visiting with folks we hadn’t seen in years and helping sell raffle tickets in the MTA booth with Charlie Zelch and Karl Rice. There was a good crowd at Lima.

By the time you read this, we will have had two more clinics in District 6 and 8 and the Fall Rendezvous in Salem. In October, we have three clinics in Districts 3, 2 and 5. If you would like to attend these clinics, get in touch with the District Director and Volunteer your services or just show up to work.

Mel Block retired from a school administration job and was proud of the education the MTA has done and is doing for trappers across the state of Missouri.

DISTRICT 3 REPORT

Some pretty nice weather we’re having. It’s the end of August and it feels like the end of September.

I want to say thanks to everyone who attended the summer meeting Dist. 3 had at Sullivan. Also want to thank those who helped out with the skatzer event in Union Mo. August 22 and 23.
District 3 is planning a trapping clinic Scheduled for Oct. 16, 17 and 18. The clinic will be in Ste. Genevieve County. There will be two separate classes. The first class will be a Advanced Predator trapping class for those who want to take their trapping skills to the next level. This class will be two days of hands on predator trapping. The class is limited to the first 25 entries.

The second class is a basic water and land trapping class. Both classes will be very educational and hands on. There is no limit to this class, but we still need you to register so we have a general head count on how many will be attending.

There will be demos on Saturday night and Sunday. We will be setting traps on Saturday and run them Sunday morning. Come dressed to trap. You will learn more if you’re down in the middle of the action.

We will have donuts and juice Saturday and Sunday mornings for breakfast. Saturday lunch is BBQ burgers, hot dogs, chops and soda, furnished by District 3. Saturday night everyone is on their own for dinner. Friday is set up day. Primitive camping is free. Electrical hook-ups are $5 per night. The campground will be open at noon on Friday. Everyone is welcome to come set around the camp fire and talk trapping.

DISTRICT 6 REPORT

Hi everyone,

Fall is just around the corner, with these cool days and nights. It is getting my trapping blood up. I’m getting my traps ready.

Folks, this will be my last report as District 6 Director. I have enjoyed being Director, as I served for two terms. At our Dist. 6 Spring meeting, Dale Verts was elected as the new Director of Dist. 6. I know Dale will do a good job, and I wish him the very best. I will still be here to help him in any way I can.

I feel the members of the M.T.A. owe Herb Binsbacker a big thank you for all the hard work he has done over the years. His term as your treasurer will be ending on Oct. 1. And I will become your new treasurer. I pledge to you that I will do the very best job that I can, and I know that I can count on Herb for help when I need it. If I can be of help in any way, please feel free to give me a call.

May God Bless.

— Paul
