PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Hello everyone,
I wasn’t supposed to still be here, but no new nominations were made, so I guess I am president for 2 more years. Minutes of that meeting follow.
The Convention was a success and the weather was great. I want to thank everyone that helped out at the NFH booth; several members sat in and allowed me to get out and wander around. The White Elephant auction and the new consignment auction went well. Raffle ticket sales for the guns were brisk at the Convention. Scott Grudzinski of Ashton won the shotgun, Tom Bartak of Bloomfield won the .22. In a separate raffle, Jamie Messersmith won the Dun Knife. In the 50/50 pelt drawing, Dave Hastings had 1st draw, Brian Keck 2nd, and Jim Miller, 3rd. The youth division got off to a slower start, with only 4 participants. Winners were, 1st Ashley Eskew, 2nd Jamie Messersmith, 3rd Jamie Messersmith.
At the membership meeting, Wynn Hall brought pictures of the facilities at Tuxedo Park in Crete, also prices and terms of u

se. It appears great!
That is all for now.

— Don Miller

FALL MEETING REPORT
Nebraska Fur Harvesters Fall Meeting
Convention site, Lexington, NE, September 24, 2011
(Un-official Minutes—taken by substitute secretary, Dave Hastings
24 in attendance
President Don Miller called the meeting to order and noted that John Self was not in attendance as secretary. Don also noted that John was not a current member, so he appointed Dave Hastings to take minutes.
Gary Macke and Virgil Schroeder of North American Fur Auctions presented Don Miller with a check for $2,150. NAFA reserves a small percentage of all fur that Nebraska ships and pays that back to the state association. Macke noted that the volume of fur to NAFA from Nebraska had increased significantly this year. Also, Virgil noted that members of the Wild Fur Shippers Council received a 3% rebate this season, in addition to the discounted commission rate, due to the profit sharing from NAFA.
Treasurer’s Report—Treasurer not present, but Don presented photocopied reports taken from the check book register, and shared bank statements. The association is at or slightly ahead of last year at this time. Treasurer did see that reports were available.
Wynn Hall discussed hosting the 2012 convention, investigated Fillmore and Seward Counties, recommended Tuxedo Park in Crete, 28 and 29 of September 2012. NFH would pay for the big building only on Friday and Saturday at $350 per day. No other sites are currently bidding to host. Vote taken, unanimously agreed to go to Crete.
There was some discussion of considerations for 2013 convention site—Don mentioned Jason Reynoldson and Adam Duryea posed the possibility of Broken Bow.
Don had concerns about the display booth for NFH which is out of repair and bulky.

Consensus was to do away with it; keeping the photos for educational purposes.
Elections of officers was discussed. President—no new nominations received, so Don will serve in that role. The Treasurer positon was discussed, but the majority of that role is being completed now by the CPA and President, so being responsible for the Treasurer’s Report is the only real duty—Jason Reynoldson agreed to serve in that position. NTA Representative was discussed at length with no clear conclusion. Dave Hastings is generally at the meetings and can fill in if no new officer is in place. Wynn Hall discussed filling that position. George Wagner did not object to continuing in his role as Legislative Representative.
Discussion of Trompke accounting services and costs. All agreed that we are pleased with the work, and agreed to a raise.
Roy Greenfield nominated Stephen Vantassel as NFH Secretary. Seconded by Dave Hastings—vote, unanimous in favor. Stephen asked that Donna forward the member list to him at stephenvantassel@hotmail.com, and Stephen indicated his first task would be to get the bylaws into electronic format and make available.
Doug and Cindy Eskew are recognized for their hard work in hosting the convention.
Discussion of site/host for spring meeting. Adam Duryea offered to do this in Broken Bow.
Respectfully Submitted by temporary appointee — Dave Hastings. (I am confident that our new secretary will do a better job in the future!)
