PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Hello Everyone,
I just got off the phone with Sam Wilson, non-game furbearer biologist with Nebraska Game and Parks. He said that the trapping regulations would not be on the agenda at the August Commissioners Meeting; they would be put back to the October meeting. As I understand, if they didn’t get these approved and printed up before trapping season (it would kind of rush things to have them approved in October and get printed before Nov. 1), regulations would be put in place as before LB299 for this year. One will have to watch for results of the Commissioners meeting and maybe check with the local Conservation Officer.
Sam said that he would be at the Convention on Friday, and we will sure try to have a Conservation Officer on Saturday so those at the Convention will have a chance to talk to them and ask questions.
On that note, by the time you get this information in the Trapper & Predator Caller, Convention will only be a month away.
About that time, we should be getting our flyers/convention schedules. If you have any questions related to the Convention or the Fairgrounds facilities, contact Jason Reynoldson. Also, anyone who can help him with setup or any other chores, please contact Jason. He has great facilities and is working diligently to put together a great Fall Convention.
Sell those raffle tickets. Help promote this Convention; maybe you have an item or items that would sell on our Fundraiser Auction.
Again, I will say that we have a proposal to change the bylaws so that one half of the officers would be elected to three-year terms (one time only). The other officers would be elected to the regular two-year term. This would prevent the potential for all new officers at one time. I am in favor of this. If anyone has a problem with this, or can see something wrong with it, please let me know. Of course, if anyone is interested in an office, let me know.
