The New Hampshire Trappers Association held a monthly directors meeting October 2th, 2012.
The Association does not meet during the month of November. I hope you all have a chance to run a fur line this fall and early winter; if nothing more than to interface with the great outdoors and maybe bring some fur to the NHTA January fur sale to mingle with fellow trappers, take a peek at how others prepare skins, get tips from the buyers and see how the market is fairing. And, oh yes, donate a fisher!
Each year the NHTA has a jacket made from trapper donations of fisher skins to present to the newly crowned Miss NH. You don’t need to be a member of the association to donate a skin. Other fur donations are appreciated as we use them to sell, offer to educational outlets or donate to other associations for their fund-raising auctions.
The association is in the planning stages for the 2013 NHTA Banquet that is targeted to be held in February. We will be soliciting donations for the silent and live auctions. Keep us in mind while shopping during the holidays!
The annual NH Trappers Association Fur Sale will be held Saturday, January 12th, 2013. The fur sale will be held this year at the Belknap County Sportsmen’s Club in Gilford on Lilly Pond Rd (Rt11C).
NHTA will take part again this year in the Farm & Forest Expo in Manchester, NH, at the Radisson (“Center of NH”) February 8th and 9th 2013. This year the association will assemble a beaver dam/lodge replica as an exhibit. Volunteers are needed to assist in the assembly and man the booth.
Last month I reported that the association had chosen director Dan Dockham to induct into the NHTA. Dan indeed was inducted, but that was last year. The inductee this year is NHTA treasurer Mike Kazak. Congratulations Mike.
Another item from the past: the association had a volunteer day in September of this year. Directors and members Larry Torr, Roger Burnham, Brian Denutte, Peter Laughlin, Jack and Ethan Yazinski and Tyler Petrin met in Holderness to point-up and re-chink the trappers cabin to slow down the mice and keep out the blowing wind. Thank you guys.
Best to all. — Paul DeBow, Grafton County Director
