REPORT

The New Hampshire Trappers Association held a monthly directors meeting on July 2, 2013.

The association is set for the NHTA Annual Fall meeting. This year, the event will be held on one day — Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at the Owl Brook Hunter/Trapper Education Center in Holderness, NH. We will have a country auction and for that to be a success, we will need donations. Items to be auctioned can be brought along on the day of the event. Any sort of new item is appreciated — trapping gear, certainly, but also garden produce, canned goods, anything from the shed you have been tripping over. Thank you!

NHTA Director Steve Schlangen has the gun raffle tickets available and has distributed most of them to directors to sell. There are 10 guns to raffle and only 1,500 tickets will be sold. Numerically, your chances are good to get a gun. Ask around for some tickets to buy or sell or call Steve directly at 603-895-0686.

NHTA received a letter from Levi Frye, this year’s recipient of the Sinclair Scholarship, thanking the association for the $500 award to be used in his pursuit of a degree in a wildlife-related field. The NH Wildlife Federation also sent a thank you for our donation to support their organization. And 4-H of NH sent a thank-you note in appreciation for our continued support.

The directors discussed at great lengths the need for new bodies in the association. Please check around amongst your sportsmen/sportswomen friends and invite them along to our 7 p.m. meetings held on the first Tuesday of each month in Boscawen. And touch base with some of those directors we haven’t seen in a while. We miss them!

Best to all. — Paul DeBow, Grafton County Director
