PRESIDENT’S REPORT

NJFH Members,

Trapping season will soon be winding down and I hope you are having a successful and fun season. The cold weather in January really put a damper on my muskrat catch, but I hope February will be better. When I talked to other trappers, they also had the some complaint so besides the fur prices being down. I also think the weather will result in a smaller catch this year.

This year we will be holding our spring meeting March 22 at the Assunpink Wildlife Management Area, Central Region Office in Upper Freehold Twp, Monmouth County. We will be holding elections and we also have lunch being served. There will also be a fur drop off for the NAFA May sale before the meeting. All members should be receiving a newsletter with all information on the meeting and times soon. Just be sure to mark your calendars and here are the directions to the meeting.

Take Interstate 195 East or West to exit 11 (Imlaystown-Cox’s Corner). Head toward Cox’s Corner as you come off the ramp. At the first stop sign intersection (Rt. 524), go straight across. Go one mile to the next stop sign intersection (East Branch Road) and turn right. Follow this road past the horse farms and you will come to the Assunpink property. The Central Region Office will be on your right.

I received a few (more like a couple) calls from some new members that want to help out and this is a great sign! However, I still don’t have anybody stepping up wanting to be president. It is important for someone to step up for the group! As I said before, I’m not leaving the group I just think it’s important for a change. I will be there to help the new president in any way I can and take on any job which would help the NJFH. If you have any questions about the president job, please give me a call. The president job really is a fun and fulfilling job which I’ve enjoyed, so please take the time to think about it and give me a call!

Enjoy the rest of the trapping season and I will see you in March!

— Curt Haberman
