PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Hello fellow Trapper’s, I hope this report find’s you well. Spring is here and so begins our quest to prepare for next season. There are conventions to attend, supplies to gather, and scouting to do, a trappers life is busy.

We are at the present working on legislation to have an alternative to our present trap tag law. The new law will give the trapper the choice of our present tags with your name and address, or a tag that instead, has trapper ID number. This will give trappers the choice of putting their information out their for the public.

I want to remind folks one last time about our Advanced Trappers 3 Day Course,May17,18,and 19,2013 at Millstone 4-H camp in Ellerbie, NC. The cost is $300.00 which includes room and board. There is a wealth of information to be had here so sign up if you can.

I want to give a shout out to Josh Biesecker, our newsletter editor, for doing a fantastic job on putting out our semi-annual newsletter. All the feedback that I have heard has been positive so keep up the good work.

After seeing the results of the Feb. NAFA sale,I am cautiously optimistic about the upcoming May Sale and beyond. It would be nice to have a few years of stable fur prices. I hope that you all had fur there or will have at the next sale.

I’ll wrap this up for now as I have to start getting ready for next season. There are fish to catch, traps to dip and creeks that I need to check out. I’ve got 2 great nephews that have caught the outdoor bug and I think I’ll see if I can get them to keep me company while I work on these grueling chores. I urge the rest of you to do the same. — Tony W. White
