PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Hello fellow NCTA trappers, I hope that this report finds you doing well. Spring has now slipped into summer and trapping season seems far, far away. The wise trapper knows that they must chip away at his or her preseason work list as the lazy days of summer have a way of slipping away.

As I write this, we are a little over 2 weeks away from the May fur sale at NAFA. Prices are still anybody’s guess but one can’t help but be excited with the auction drawing close. My local game wardens have told me that they checked more trappers this past season than any other in recent memory. I can only hope that a lackluster fur sale won’t discourage these new comers from enjoying the trapline and from joining our association.

Our Advanced Trappers Course had to be canceled as we did not have enough people to sign up. This was disappointing as I feel that this course really offers a lot for the money. Well, there is always next year. At this time, I don’t have any info on dates for the one day courses but as soon as they are made available, I will have them posted on our website.

I will close for now. I hope that you all have a safe and happy summer. Please remember to take a kid with you as you venture into the outdoors. — Tony White
