The NWOFT, Inc. is pleased to announce its plans for the 2012-2013 fur season sales. At the Fall Trappers’ Clinic on October 20, the general membership and board of directors agreed to continue to honor the organization’s original charter and offer its members opportunities to market their fur at a competitive price. Due to decreased lot sizes and buyer participation, along with rising costs of facility rental, it has become necessary to restructure our fur marketing process. We are excited to make the necessary changes to bring each fur harvester together with numerous buyers to create a competitive and friendly fur marketing option.

Dates: December 15, 2012 and January 19, 2013

Location: Portage Hall – City Building, 110 West Walnut St. Portage, OH

Time: Doors open at 9:00am. Trappers will be admitted on a first come, first serve basis. No lot numbers will be available in advance – day of sale (walk-up) only. Doors will remain open until noon or until we run out of sellers.

Commission: None for sellers. We ask only that you be a member of NWOFT, OSTA, or NTA. Remember that your membership to NWOFT includes a yearly subscription to the Trapper and Predator Caller magazine.

New Format: Trappers (sellers) will be admitted to the sale individually and may sell their lot in whole or in part to any participating buyer. Each seller is responsible for grading and presenting his fur as he chooses. He may “shop around” and offer his furs to each buyer if he choose and then sell to one or more of them at his discretion. Of course, he may choose to hold on to part or all of his lot as well. Checks will be issued on site by each individual buyer who purchases fur to each individual seller. No membership dues or commissions will be deducted from any checks.

Note – this is not an open auction with live bidding but rather an open sale format where the seller may negotiate with each buyer as he sees fit. As an added benefit, NWOFT will provide at no cost, fur handling and grading recommendations to young or new trappers in order to help them and make their experience more fulfilling. As in the past, NWOFT is not responsible for damaged or stolen goods.
