October 2006 Editor’s Call

Autumn is Here! Let’s Go Trap and Call
I love fall. After the heat of summer wanes and trees lose their green, we get to renew our connections to wild places. And yes, it’s finally time to trap and hunt.
But the onset of autumn brings me excitement and satisfaction for another reason. You see, in fall, we unveil all of the special projects we’ve toiled all summer to produce.
Once again, we have tapped the expertise of many of North America’s top predator hunters to present two issues of Predator Hunting magazine in 2006.
The fall edition, which has just been released on national newsstands, contains informative and exciting articles by Gerry Blair, Gerald Stewart, Lance Homman, Dave Kaprocki, Ted Stotler and many more veteran predator callers.
We cover calling tips and strategies for coyotes, bobcats, foxes and raccoons, and our experts will help you choose the best gear for your calling situations, from guns and scopes to calls and lights.
The fall issue is on newsstands now, but you can order direct from F+W Publications by calling (800) 942-0673 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central time Monday through Friday. You can also pre-order the winter issue, which is scheduled to hit newsstands on Nov. 1.
Let’s Go Scream For ‘Cats and Coyotes in Texas
The Trapper & Predator Caller has teamed up with Predator Hunting magazine to offer the most exciting predator calling sweepstakes ever assembled.
One person will be treated to an all-expenses-paid, four-day predator calling trip with FoxPro pro staff predator hunter Byron South in predator-rich Texas.
The winner of the Screamin’ Texas Sweepstakes will hunt the Lone Star State for coyotes, bobcats and foxes on Jan. 18 to 21, 2007.
South said the hunt will be a combination of daylight and night calling, and the chances of luring a bobcat into range are good.
In addition to this amazing predator calling experience, the grand prize winner will receive a predator hunting prize package that will make any caller jealous.
Check out this gear: A FoxPro FX3 digital predator call, FoxPro Jack-in-the-Box decoy, Bushmaster Predator .223 rifle, Nikon scope, Black Hills ammunition, a Lightforce Walkabout Pack light system, Realtree Max-1 camouflage outfit and Predator Sniper Styx shooting supports.
It’s a prize package worth more than $4,000. Be sure to enter. It’s free!
Last Chance to Win a Montana Trapping Trip
One lucky trapper is going to win an all-expenses-paid trapline ride-along in Montana this season.
The Trapper & Predator Caller presents the Montana Predator Trapline Sweepstakes, a chance to join master bobcat, coyote and fox trapper John Graham of Fur Country Lures on his East-Central Montana longline.
Graham’s trapline includes some of the most picturesque landscape anywhere in the West. Antelope, mule deer and golden eagles are common sights as Graham pilots his pickup from rimrock to rimrock where his traps lie waiting.
And if there are more-stunning spotted bobcats on Earth, I haven’t seen them. Montana coyotes are downright handsome, too, at least as far as fur quality is concerned.
In addition to fond trapline memories and trapping tips, our winner will receive a dozen Montana Special foothold traps, a dozen Amberg snares, six 4-ounce bottles of Fur Country Lures, two John Graham trapping videos and a $100 gift certificate to Schmitt Enterprises.
Entry is free. We’ll draw a winner in October. It could be you!
