PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Hello from Southern Oklahoma,

I want to thank the workers we had for the Feb Fur Sale, they are Leo Farmer, Noel Carruthers, John and Renee Weygandt, Ron and Vivian Scott, Shannon and Cathy Sheffert, Terry and Pam Waggoner and Janice Johnson. Also Thanks to Dub and Claudette Shankles for having supplies for sale. Also we had three good fur carry boys, they were Nathan,Spencer and Janice’s grandson.

The Feb 2 fur sale at Chandler is over. Ther wasn’t as much fur as expected. We had 43 lots and most of the trappers said they were having a hard time finding fur this year, their numbers were pretty low. The sellers bundled their fur which made the sale go a lot smoother and faster and the prices were good .

March 2,2013 fur sale is fast approaching. Looks to be a big sale as of Feb 23 we have over 100 sellers not counting walkins. I hope all sellers will bundle their furs and have patience and buyers do not run out of money and room for furs. It will be a long day for all. There will be supplies there so you can replenish your needs or wants.

Don’t forget the spring meeting on April 20,2013 at Okemah. We welcome all who want to do a demo. Contact me and I’ll schedule you. Also you can have a good time talking to the other trappers you can find out how their season went and also get tips that will help you on your trapline.

The elections for officers and directors will be in Oct. We need some new people to step up and add new ideas and leadership for the organization. I regret to say John Weygandt will not run for secretary position again, but will still do the computer for the auctions. We need someone to step up and learn the computer for the auction to give John some relief. We will miss him greatly in that position, we need someone to step up and fill his position, and run for other offices and directors. Also Leo Farmer and Vivian Scott will not run for directors this time as they are burned out and have other things they want to do.

We will start the Spring Meeting meeting on April 20,2013 at 8:AM. We need some new demos so if you have an idea and want to share do a demo and show others. The meeting is at Okemah again so come and bring a side dish or dessert for the noon meal.

Remember the organization belongs to all and all help is appreciated also all need to step up and join the NTA as we have 64 members in Oklahoma, not a good showing.

We need the trappers who sell at the auctions to step up and take part on the OFBA as you are a member now, so all need to do their part to make it a good or better organization.

Have a great year. God Bless All. — Gene Callaway
