PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Greetings,

There isn’t too much new to talk about right now. I would like to start out by letting everyone know that we are in need of fur donations. Our inventory is low. The fur that is donated to the association is utilized to help fund our trappers education programs. Any donations even carcassed ones are greatly appreciated. Even if each trapper could donate one animal it would help immensly and we would be very gracious for your help.

Secondly, our spring convention will be April 16th near Britton. The convention will be at Hickman Dam in the Marshall County Sportsman’s club. It is 8 miles south of Britton on Hwy 27. The facility is approximately 50 miles from both Aberdeen and Webster to give you an idea. You should look for a brown sign that says Hickman Dam on the east side of the road. We will have beaver trapping, muskrat trapping, and beaver processing demos throughout the day followed by an afternoon membership meeting.

Accomodations: (In Britton) Sunset Motel 605-448-2205 and Tylers Lanes & Lounge & Rooms 605-448-5723. If you’re brave you couls certainly try camping….. Here are two camping options Pierport 17 miles south or the Britton City Park (free 1st 2 days). The skinning bee will follow on the 17th at Peterson furs. Anyone is welcome to help us skin out our donations and exchange some trapping adventures from the past season.

Don’t forget to mark your calenders for the Fall Rendezvous in Wall on Sept 16th and 17th. I look forward to seeing you all in April.

— Anna Hermanson

VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Hi Trappers,

It has been a little slow for trapping for me due to snow and work. Spring weather, things should pick up, Badgers, Muskrats and Beaver. I will see how much I get done.

I want to Thank the helpers at the Stock Show and Pierre Gun Show. We had some new help at the Rapid City Stock Show, they are; Webb Carson, Evan Anderson, Rochelle and Mike Berg, Ivan ?, I missed his last name, Sorry. Also the helpers that have helped in the past are; Anna Hermanson, Jerry, Mary and Lacey Westphal, Kenny Johnson, Larry Bowden, Tuffy Halls, and Ray Maize. Thanks for the help, Good Job.

For the Pierre Dakota Territory Gun Show the helpers were Todd, Jessi, and Hunter Martell, Joel and Margie Saylor and Ray Maize. Good Job. Thanks for helping everyone.

I would like to mention that SDTA could use some fur donations to sell at these fund raisers. Large or small, carcass or tanned, we will take it. Contact a local director or our Fur Coordinator, Russ Cambern and they will take care of the fur.

Our Spring Meeting will be at the Marshall County Sportsman’s Club on April 16th, 2011 near Britton. The Fall Meeting will be at the Wall Community Center in Wall on September 16th-18th, 2011.

If you have any issues or concerns that SDTA should be aware of, please contact a Director.

Good Trapping.

— Ray Maize
