PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Greetings to all. Well, trapping season has finally arrived. I hope that all of you have a great season.

First, I want to thank all of you that made it to Montgomery Bell Park for our fall meeting. It was a beautiful fall day. We had a great mean and good fellowship. Thanks to all who brought items to the auction and those who bought items.

Chris has the dates for our fur auctions which will again be in Waverly and Alexandria. If you have anything that might be sold at the spring meeting auction, you can bring the items to the fur sale.

We are always looking for a place to hold a meeting. If you know a place, please contact Chris Jacobson.

Again, good luck. Until the next report. — Mark Griffith

STATE ORGANIZER’S REPORT

Target TFTA Fur Auction dates are January 26th, 2013 at the Humphreys County Agriculture Center in Waverly and February 16th, 2013 at the Fairgrounds in Alexandria. Look for more information for these Fur Auctions in future issues of The Trapper and Predator Caller Magazine or visit the website at www.tennesseefreetrappers.com

THE TFTA FUR AUCTIONS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Auction #1 – Waverly, Tenn – Humphreys County – January 26, 2013 at 9 a.m. CDT. This auction will be held at the Humphreys County Agriculture Center (next to the Farmers Co-Op) on Blue Creek Road in Waverly, TN. Directions: From I-40, take exit 143 to Hwy. 13 North. Travel on Hwy. 13 approx 12 or 13 miles, turn left on Blue Creek Road just before you get to the square in Waverly. Note that the driveway entrance has moved to the other side of the co-op. Look for the TFTA signs.

Auction #2 – Alexandria, Tenn – DeKalb County – February 16, 2013 at 9:00 am CDT. This auction will be held at the DeKalb County Fairgrounds in Alexandria, Tenn. Directions: From I-40 take exit 254 (Alexandria Exit). Turn right off the interstate. Stay straight continuing on Hwy. 53 South, then take a right on Hwy. 70 in Alexandria and follow the TFTA signs.

To make table reservation, contact Jackie McMurtry at 615-672-4163. You may reserve a table no earlier than 1 month prior to each of the sales. If you have reserved an auction table and are not present when your table number comes up, you will be passed up and go to the end of the line when you show up to get your table. You do not have to be a member to reserve a table. As a benefit for the TFTA members, there will be no commission on the fur or ginseng sold by the TFTA members at any one of these fur auctions. However for non-members there will be a 4% commission charged for the sale of fur and 1% for ginseng.

If you are selling your fur green, please do not bring it to the auctions wet and muddy. Be sure it is clean, thawed, the fur is dry and not full of burrs.

Fur Buyers will need a valid Tennessee Fur Buyers license (Type 121) in order to buy fur. In order to buy roots, a buyer must possess a license from the TN Department of Natural Heritage. I will have Fur Buyer record books for Fur Buyers at both Fur Auctions if needed.

Thanks. — Chris Jacobsen
