I hope this report finds everyone doing well. Trapping season will start in a couple of months and now is the time to get your equipment ready, if you have not done so already.
Myself, Jerry (Bird) Scott, and my son Jeremy along with Chris Jacobson, Jackie McMurty, Roger Seward and his wife Sharon were at the NTA convention in Lima, OH. We talked to many visitors who stopped by our booths. There were some of them who were members who also made the trip from Tennessee. Everyone seemed to enjoy the mild weather that greeted them at this time of year.
Most trappers that we talked to were pleased and surprised at the fur prices. It seems that most believe that this coming fur season will also be a good market year. They also feel that the number of trappers buying equipment for raccoons will cause and adjustment on our raccoon prices, but that is to be seen.
This is an election year and as a member you have the right to nominate other members for offices. If you have a nomination, please notify Roger Seward at 731-584-3200.
The fall meet will be at the Pearls of Christ Church on Hwy 56 south of McMinnville (10720 Beersheba Hwy, McMinnville, TN 37110) on Oct 12 at 9:00 a.m. Please try to attend. We have many things to discuss. Ballots will be counted to see who will the officers for the next two years will be. We also will be discussing the fur sales. We plan to have an auction as well, so bring something to donate. There will be demonstrations, such as snare making and usage, water trapping and land sets. Hope to see you there.
Until the next report. — Mark Griffith
