PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Hello everyone. By the time you read this, trapping season will be over for the most of us, unless you are going out of state. I hope each and everyone of you had a wonderful season and are getting ready for rendezvous season.

Please don’t forget our spring rendezvous at Big Ridge State Park on April 17 to 19.

This year is also an election year for our association.

Keep your eyes open for the upcoming Calender of Events that will be sent out soon, because some dates and locations have been changed.

STATE ORGANIZER’S REPORT

Hello TFHA Family,

At the time of this writing, the Monteagle sale is two days away so below are the results of our Crossville sale. Although prices weren’t as high as we would’ve liked, they were better than expected.

We’d like to send out a big thank you to our buyers that made this sale possible, as well as a big thank you to the TFHA members who put in the time and effort to help make all our events run like clockwork.
We hope to see you at the Monteagle & Bulls Gap sales.

Looking into the future, Big Ridge will be held April 17 to 19. Gates open at 3 p.m. at Big Ridge State Park. Directors Meeting will be after supper Friday night. For Fri. night supper, we are asking that anyone willing to please bring a casserole or a side dish. We are also looking for new ideas for games, demos and ladies’ events. If you have any you’d like to give, please contact me at 865-621-8114. Don’t forget to bring an auction item. It can be anything. Make it fun, useful, a family favorite or just eye-catching.

Also be aware; we were notified that NO pets are allowed in group camp areas.

Make sure to take the time to thank our lovely Lady Fur Harvesters. They work very hard to prepare those delicious meals you enjoy at every meeting.

Tell your friends about TFHA. Bring them to the meetings; let’s keep TFHA growing!
May God bless and keep you always.

NTA DIRECTOR’S REPORT

At the time of this writing, trapping season is coming to a close. This has definitely been a season of uncertainty, but, hey, when has trapping ever been any other way? That’s why trappers are such an adaptable bunch, with a new administration taking office on an economy, the likes of we haven’t seen since the 1940’s. 2009 promises to be a year of changes for our country, and I am sure that some of these changes will affect trappers, hunters and other like-minded groups. It is very important that we stay informed and financially ready at all times if we expect to be able to practice our heritage in the future.

In the upcoming year, try to talk to a kid or group of kids about trapping. They might never pick up a trap in their life, but if they leave you with the understanding that trappers are caring sportsmen with a genuine concern and respect for animals and their habitat. We will have won a friend who someday maybe governor or even a president. Our trapper Training Camp at the Hiwassee Reserve will be March 20 to 22. Everyone is welcome and please bring a friend.

If you would like to volunteer to help or need information, please contact me at 423-595-0986. Well, I guess that’s all for now. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at Big Ridge. Until next time, keep your boots dry!

— John Daniel
