Fur Prices Peaking, Time to Sell

Serge Lariviére

In his latest Fur Market Report, Trapper & Predator Caller fur market expert Serge Lariviére says that despite a mild winter, demand from China for fur has driven prices to exciting new highs. And with those highs, the time has come to sell any fur you’ve been holding onto.

Here’s an excerpt from the report:

I have said it before, and will say it again. If you have been holding skins waiting for a good market, now is a good time to sell. Country buyers have upped their prices following this rising market and although we expect the buyer’s hunger to slow down a little for the coming May sales, we could be surprised, as we were last year when the May sales climbed even higher than the February and March sales.

Are we as high as we are going to get? Most experts would say we must be getting close to the peak of the mountain. Prices cannot climb indefinitely. Whatever you might have in hand should be sold as soon as possible.
