Friends and family of a teen who tragically lost his life when he fell through thin ice while beaver trapping in late 2012 are planning on honoring the boy with a memorial made of trap tags and a wood stretcher.
Josh Wardwell, 17, of Oxford, Maine, fell through thin ice in early December while beaver trapping after school. Warm temperatures had melted what had previously been safe ice, according to a Bangor Daily News story on the accident.
More than 300 trap tags have been collected for the memorial so far with contributions coming from across the U.S. and beyond. Family friend Shawn Wilcox, who is helping organize the memorial, provides updates on the trap tag collection and the memorial on a thread on the popular trapping forum Trapperman.com.
