MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY’S REPORT

Hello VTA Members, Hope everyone is having a fine summer. I guess by the time this in the T&PC mag, our Convention is over. Hope you had the time to come out and take it all in. Our month of June has been below normal temperature, but as of today the 19th, it is getting hotter. Dickie has been busy mowing yards for us and several others in our neighborhood and doing some nuisance business. He likes to stay busy. Just to let you know, I will be starting a new project for our lifetime members. Thought it might have been a while for some of you since you joined, so I will be sending most of you new VTA membership cards. If you have joined lifetime since I have taken over, you already have one, but thought many of you have worn out cards or none at all. If you are a lifetime member with this publication and you do not receive a new card by August 1st, please let me know. If you have any problems with not getting your T&PC or have missing issues, please let me know. If you know you have renewed, and receive a notice from the T&PC saying URGENT across the top, ignore it or if you are still concerned, please call me. I am still getting phone calls from members concerned about these notices. Also, if you or you know of anyone that is a member and has not received their T&PC mags, or VTA Newsletters, please let me know. I want to make sure that everyone that is a member is on my membership list. Errors occur, especially when dealing with the computer and sometimes lines get erased by accident, so I want to know if someone is being overlooked. If you have any problems or concerns, please call me anytime. Have a great summer, Your VTA Membership Secretary. — Diana Craig

NTA DIRECTOR’S REPORT

I recently had a discussion with Elizabeth LaRue regarding a proposal for the Virginia and West Virginia Trappers Associations to jointly sponsor an NTA Regional Convention in September of 2013. Elizabeth is the NTA Director for West Virginia and is running unopposed for Vice President of the NTA.

This proposal is in the very preliminary stage at present and would of course require the approval of the memberships of both Associations. A suggested site would be the West Virginia State Fairgrounds located off of I-64 near Lewisburg, WV. To move forward with this proposal will require a significant commitment from our membership and should not be undertaken lightly. More details will be presented to our BOD and membership at our Convention on July 13-15 in Orange. If desired this can discussed further at the NTA Convention in Minnesota the first week of August and returned to the VTA for final consideration.

If you have any comments or ideas that you would like me to carry forward to the NTA let me know at any time or contact me at our Convention. I know we are living in tough economic times but I hope that many of you will continue to support the NTA through your membership and active participation. I believe that the NTA is on the right path since the difficulties of several years ago involving a self serving employee and contractor. For this to continue will require strong membership and leadership.

I hope to see many of you in Orange and if possible in Owatonna, MN. — Larry Kline

DISTRICT 4 REPORT

District 4 meeting was held on June 9, 2012 at Christ U.M.C. Seven members were present.

No nominations for District 4 Director were received at this meeting. My term as Director ends Aug. 31, 2012. The next meeting is Aug. 18, 2012. A new director will be elected at this meeting or District 4 will not have a Director. Please attend this meeting.

The following topics were discussed at the June meeting:

Fur auction — Return to old auction format. Buyers inspect furs and give you an offer.

Election — Ballots should be mailed, received and counted by a non-interested party. Make sure your name is on the membership list so you will receive a ballot. All eligible voting members should vote.

Budget — Members would like to have an itemized budget available for viewing at the convention.

Convention — Have a handicap porta john near the camper area. Have no other activities during the membership meeting. Separate the voting members from non-voting members and visitors. Must have VTA membership card or be on VTA membership list to vote. All members should donate an item to the convention auction if possible.

Convention sites — Return to Luray. Shen. Lake, Grand Caverns, Shen. County Fairgrounds, Augusta Expo.

Please contact me if you have any comments at (540) 886-8014. — Billy Price
