My name is Larry Bowden. I was recently elected President of the “Western South Dakota Fur Harvesters”.
We also elected a new vice president and several new directors. We have a lot of enthusiasm and energy within our board and officers.
I would like to thank outgoing president Darwin Latham for his dedication and service to out organization.
I would also like to recognize and express my appreciation to the founders of “WSDFH”. I will not try to list their names because I am afraid of omitting some one. Their vision and efforts led to an organization which represented west river hunters and trappers. The need today is every bit as important as in 1985 when WSDFH was founded.
At our first meeting we discussed several issues and decided the direction we would like WSDFH to pursue.
We will continue to monitor and work with ”SD game fish and parks” on trapping and land access issues. Public land access is very important to both our game calling members and trappers.
Trapper education has always been a priority with our organization and it will continue to be.
Our new web site is up and running. Our web master and WSDFH member Jim Halls is doing a great job. Our site address is wsdfha.com. We will be expanding the site to better serve our membership. Take a look at our web site, you will like it.
Please contact me with any comments or concerns.

We held our annual fall meeting on Sunday September 25 in Vale. The business meeting was short and we moved into election of officers. Those elected were: Larry Bowden-President, Jeremiah Heath-Vice President, Jerrod Lutter – Director, Joe Bowden – Director, Larry Rossum – Director, Brandon Covell – Director. Congratulations to each or you.
Our membership drive is underway, so if you have not paid your 2011-2012 dues please do so. I will be sending out notices to each of you who has not already paid for the upcoming year, or you can visit our new website @ wsdfha.com, click on the membership window and download a form.
We did not increase our dues this year and it is still $10.00 for a single membership. However if you wish to sign up as a family membership it is $15.00 and you must list the members of your immediate house hold.
We voted to have our Website as our official publication. If you wish to receive the Trapper & Predator Caller Magazine you must add an additional $12.00 to your selected membership option.
For many of us hunting season is here. If you still have game in your freezer from last year, please consider donating it your local food bank.
