PRESIDENT’S REPORT

NJFH Members,

This cooler weather really got me thinking about trapping and the outdoors. The NJFH has been busy with meetings and the Decoy show. The meeting was held at Roger Gravatt’s farm and it was a nice place and easy to get to. We all thank Roger for allowing us to hold the meeting at his farm. The meeting was well attended and we took care of a lot of business. Clint Ekelman donated three beavers and two raccoons that were all tanned! We already used this fur at the Decoy show and they really helped us out. Thanks Clint!

The Decoy show was a nice day on Saturday and we talked to many people about trapping and fur. Sunday was a rainy day and we didn’t set up. I would like to thank Steve Decker and Ron Diehl for helping set up the display, which for the three of us it is getting easier every year!

The NJFH convention will be held on Nov. 1 at Atsion Lake recreation center. It starts at 9 a.m. and we wrap at 3 p.m. We have trapping and fur handling demos planned and many vendors attending so you can get all your trapping supplies. We will be raffling another stretcher board painting that looks beautiful! This year it is a painting of three raccoons in a stream and I’m sure all trappers will like this one. We will also be raffling off a Dunn knife, which all trappers can use. Be sure to attend this year’s convention because the more members and trappers that show up make the convention that much better!

Be sure to apply for your beaver/otter permit during the month of October. It will be over before you know it.

I’m sorry for the short report, but I have a million things I have to do in the next two days and I’m going away for a week.
