Montana Decoy Sold, New President Named

Montana Decoy, a manufacturer of ultra realistic and super lightweight decoys, was acquired by Flint Holdings, a leading manufacturer of outdoor products. The acquisition will allow for the continued expansion of developing and manufacturing decoys and decoy accessories, according to a press release.

“Montana Decoy has built an incredible brand over the last decade,” said Guy Weaver, CEO of Flint Holdings. “Our goal is to continue to provide innovation and bring new products to market that are relative to a hunter’s success.”

The company, which offers several decoys used for predator hunting, will retain Montana Decoy founder, Jerry McPherson, as head of product development and quality assurance. McPherson’s knowledge of the industry and history with product development will bring years of tried experience to the company.

“It’s a very exciting time at Montana Decoy,” said Jerry McPherson. “We have assembled an incredible group that will take this company to the next level, starting with some incredible products that we will release in 2013.”

Flint Holdings will move all manufacturing and shipping operations from Colstrip, Mont., to its plant in Plymouth, Conn., beginning May 1.

Flint Holdings also announced C.J. Davis has taken over as president of Montana Decoy. Davis assumed the new role on May 8.

“Montana Decoy has always meant great products with super customer support,” said Davis. “To be given the chance to serve as president of a company whose products I believe in and use is truly humbling.”

Davis, formerly of Chevalier Advertising, has been involved with and helped grow many of the top brands in the outdoor marketplace. Working in PR, marketing and sales support have given him a deep level of experience and an excellent foundation to move Montana Decoy forward. A hunter and shooter since childhood, Davis has always felt at home in the outdoors, especially with bow in hand.

“Having known and worked with C.J. for many years, I feel certain he is the right person at the right time for Montana Decoy,” said McPherson. “I’m looking forward to working with him for many years to come.”
